As Daylight Disappears

This weekend’s photography 101 assignment was to play with light. Well… the light didn’t cooperate with me for this assignment. It was overcast with flurries pretty much all day. Thankfully, just minutes before sunset time, I noticed that there was a tiny swatch of light peeking through the clouds near the horizon. I bundled myself up in my down-filled winter jacket and grabbed my camera to capture a couple of shots from my front deck. I made it just in time. That little streak of light didn’t last long. Sadly, two photos is all I’ve got to show for the day.

Both of these photos were snapped at 4:08 pm. They are the same view, but one is in landscape orientation, the other is in portrait orientation. Through my camera eyepiece, I liked the “portrait”one better, but now that I see them on my iMac, I prefer the “landscape”.

I am going to try again tomorrow, but I may be out of luck again. The forecast is mainly cloudy, 2 degrees Celsius, and windy. Yuck!

  1. I like the landscape better…it gives off more “information”. I usually shoot portrait though, mainly because I like to take pictures of buildings!
