Cherry Tree

After a very long and bitter winter, I’m finally starting to see clear signs of spring.

This cherry tree is growing directly in front my (home) office window. It’s absolutely stunning when in full bloom.

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the birds away? I’m really tired of sharing the harvest with crows.

    • Yes, there is, but the tree is much too large for that. I tried metal pie plates one year. That worked better than anything else I tried but it only works when there is wind.

      • More seriously, here’s a tip I found on Yahoo (I didn’t even know Yahoo still existed):

This is a very easy and effective way to keep birds out. All you need to do, is tape some strips of aluminum foil to the tree. The strips should be about a foot long, and put maybe two per branch. The sun reflecting off of the foil keeps birds away, and doesn’t harm them.

    • Yes, that would probably work. I should probably mention that that tree is about equal distance between me and the police. In fact, I was saw them watching me while snapping this photo. Funny story. A few years ago, a crow got on the power line and somehow blew the transformer. The explosion sounded like a gunshot. Three cops came running with guns ready.
