Project 365—Week 8

The theme I chose to run with this week is Black and White. To make it even more interesting, I decided to shoot everything in portrait orientation. I thoroughly enjoyed searching for subjects I thought would translate well to monochrome and fit the upright format. The editing process was a lot of fun too.

My inspiration for the week came from Perelincolors Tech of the Month: Black and White. Tech of the Month is a joint venture with Lucile’s Photo 101 Rehab. Please take time to check out both sites. You’ll discover lots of great stuff!

  1. So good! I told myself I’d play with my camera and my editing tools more this summer and instead I am watching you grow by leaps and bounds while I take the same old photos of my travels (which, yes, is very fun and I love it, but I am not learning any new skills!).

    • I told myself that I would get out more and take photos from new places this summer. I havent . Almost all of my 365 shots are in my yard or in my house. I’ve got so much going on, my camera wouldn’t come out the bag most days if it weren’t for this project. I see the word vicariously through your travel shots. Keep ’em comming!

  2. Love how you chose such common items to highlight! The last photo ‘squirrel food’ was my personal favorite. Look forward to seeing more of your photos 🙂

    • Thank you. I may not have a theme this week. 😦 Had 20-30 house guests the past few days. I just took photos of whatever I could find. I’m trying to come up with a theme that links the 3 photos I’ve already taken. If I come up with something, I’ll run with it for the rest of the week. If I don’t think of something, the week will remain themeless.

      • I started my themes in week 5. I’ve done “a pop of yellow”, “broken, battered and/or out of place”, and “black and white”. This week I’m doing “pattern”. I managed to find a common theme on Sunday AFTER I posted the first three pics of week 9 to flickr.

    • Thanks! I have a couple of shots of the same watering can somewhere on this blog, but this is the first time I’ve shot it from that angle. I’m experimenting with symmetry and centering more these days. I typically default to rule of thirds. I’m branching out, I guess. lol
